I'm so glad I found this application. I have used it for a few weeks now, and I definitely will not be going back to excel. For anyone wanting to transcribe census returns or parish records in a tabular format, genscriber is a must.
It’s very much like using a spreadsheet with the image attached. It’s very easy to use, and best of all, I can just type any values into the cells without worrying if excel is going to mess it up.
It uses templates, and It does the freebmd format.
I read on the genscriber.com forum that there will be freecen support in the next version. I am really looking forward to the next version.
The fact that it does not need installing and runs straight after unzipping it, is a big plus, and I can even run it from my pendisk.
